Basingstoke train passengers asked to nominate favourite worker

Train passengers travelling through Basingstoke and all across the south west rail network are being asked to vote for their favourite staff member.

For the fifth running of the Champions Awards by rail company Stagecoach, poster printing will likely be going up in stations all around the area.

Passengers are not just voting with customer service in mind, however; a number of categories are being contested in the awards programme, including for the environment, health and innovation.

The advertising will be going up at Stagecoach bus terminals and stations, with the awards open to all of the company’s staff.

Over the years, more than 70 bus and rail employees have been honoured by the scheme. Talking about this year's awards, Stagecoach's customer service director, Arthur Pretorius, said:

“This is a chance for our customers to help local staff gain recognition at a national level as well as potentially winning a prize themselves.”

With all members of staff from train managers and drivers to cleaners and maintenance workers able to be put forward, there will be Gold, Silver and Bronze awards up for grabs.

Any passenger nominating a successful member of staff could find themselves walking away with some cash.

One customer nominating a gold award winner will win £500, whilst silver and bronze nominees will win their passengers £20 and £125 respectively.
