Basingstoke is set to celebrate the anniversary of VE Day in real style this year, with the confirmation that a convoy of vintage vehicles will parade through the town.
This year marks the 80th Anniversary of VE Day and most parts of the country have special events planned for it. At the heart of the celebrations in Basingstoke will be this convoy, which will be led by the Dennis fire appliance. That vehicle was heavily in use during World War Two, which makes it the perfect choice to go at the front of the convoy.
Coming up behind it will be an array of other military vehicles from that time period. The idea is intended to be a tribute to those who lived through the conflict, known as the Greatest Generation.
The route that the vehicles will take starts at Southwick and will finish up in Basingstoke. The Royal British Legion Riders Branch is set to provide an escort for the convoy.
When one-off events of this kind are organised in the town, Graphic Design Services from local shops can sometimes be useful; they can help in the creation of promotional Posters, for example.
Vehicles taking part in the convoy will start their journey at 10am. They are expected to reach Basingstoke by noon.
This will be happening on Saturday 10th May.
