Basingstoke to get new hospital

It has been announced that a new hospital is set to be constructed in Basingstoke, one of six that will be built throughout the country as part of government Plans.

The statement confirming the Plans was made by minister Maria Miller, who went on to say that the location for the new Basingstoke hospital would be close to Junction 7, on the M3 motorway. It is set to be a revamp of the existing one in the town, with improved facilities that will make it more suited to the requirements of a borough whose population is increasing.

Miller told the Basingstoke Gazette that she had been pushing for this project for over half a decade, and that the existing hospital was no longer up to scratch due to issues with air conditioning and ventilation. Once it opens, the new hospital may rely on Stationery printers in Basingstoke for its administrative Forms.

Miller added that:

“I will now work with Hampshire Hospitals Trust and the Department of Health to ensure the new hospital is delivered as soon as possible for the people of Basingstoke.”

It is set to be among the six hospitals that will be constructed at various locations throughout the country, with the Government having stated that some of the planned £2.7bn health service investment will be set aside for carrying out this ambitious project.
