Basingstoke to get new food shop

A new food shop owned by the same company behind the Iceland supermarket chain is set to open in Basingstoke, after the local council approved the Plans.

The application for The Food Warehouse (FW) states that it will be a specialist outlet in the style of a warehouse intended to complement the existing Iceland stores. The location for it will be St Michael’s Retail Park in Basingstoke, and when it opens its doors, it will lead to the creation of jobs for up to 25 people living in the area.

This new store will occupy Unit 4 within the retail park and it will be notably bigger than the standard Iceland stores, providing customers with a far greater variety of grocery, chilled and frozen foodstuffs. It is also set to feature wide aisles, no ceilings and floors that are made of polished concrete.

Graphic Design Services situated in the town are sometimes used when new shops and businesses launch, as part of a promotional campaign to raise awareness. According to the Basingstoke Gazette, the application states that this store will see a long-vacant unit within the park brought into use, adding:

“The applicant has marketed the unit extensively during that period and only received interest from FW to fulfil their new store requirement for Basingstoke.”
