Students in the Deane and Basingstoke areas recently took part in a contest that required them to set up their own businesses.
The Young Enterprise Challenge involved seven months of work, during which the students had to set up services and create products with the aim of making a profit.
Students from seven different schools and one college took part in the challenge and, at the end of the contest, the teams presented their results to judges in front of an audience of around 100 people.
The contest started in September 2013 and the teams were supported by business advisers as well as the Young Enterprise organisation. In addition to forming their own companies, they were required to raise finance and appoint directors.
The winning team came from The Costello School and their business, known as Pandemonium, bought used pairs of jeans from charity shops and converted them into Bags. They also produced Christmas and Valentine's Day gifts. Both the winning team and the runners up then competed in the county final, in which the Costello School won the award for the best marketing and sales.
Should the youthful entrepreneurs decide to continue with their business ventures later in life, their marketing strategies will be helped by the fact that local Print firms can supply them with essential services such as business card printing in Basingstoke.Get a Free Quote for Bags Get a Free Quote for Print
