Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council will provide SETsquared with a grant of £100,000, so that it can create the incubator, which could potentially lead to £20 million worth of investment in local firms.
The purpose of business incubators is to support companies that are starting up or in their early stages, by ensuring that they have access to the resources and services that can accelerate their growth.
Any incubator in Basingstoke will be located at Basing View, and will offer a hub for business networking and meetings, as well as providing advice for people interested in starting an enterprise and accessing technology expertise for entrepreneurs.
There are already places offering business card printing in Basingstoke – including digital Business Cards – to assist start-ups. At the start of the year, enterprise M3 earmarked the town among four in the region to create economic growth.
Clive Sanders, the council leader for the borough, told the Basingstoke Gazette:
“It’s important to attract existing businesses but essential that we also grow our own. We want to see new companies setting up home in our area and growing here.”
Should the project go ahead as planned, SETsquared will seek investment in the incubator from several different parties.Get a Free Quote for Business Cards Get a Free Quote for Plans
