Nina Mace, who grew up in nearby Tadley, was awarded two bronze bar prizes for her entries into the Image of the Month competition, which is organised by the Guild of Photographers. The images that Nina submitted were portraits and were selected by the judges for their level of quality.
The Director of the Guild of Photographers spoke about the awards, saying:
“I am delighted that Nina has achieved this. The Guild has very demanding standards when judging photographic competitions. The judging is undertaken by a panel of internationally-recognised experts from a variety of photographic backgrounds.”
Nina recently established her own photography business which has given her the exposure she needed to truly hone her craft and to reach and award-winning standard. She said:
“It’s true what they say – that if you do what you love, it doesn't feel like work. Having children made me want to capture as much of them growing up as possible and I love doing this for other families too.”
Nina went on to say that she particularly enjoys working with children outdoors as they have the space to have fun and run around; this makes natural shots easier to capture.
Photography competitions like this often award entrants and winners with certificates which have been produced by professional printing companies.
Basingstoke photographers wishing to follow in Nina's footsteps can find out more about the competition on the Guild of Photographers' website.
