Liza Nightingale is set to get her head completely shaved during the middle of the month, with the aim behind this plan being to raise cash needed to finance the building of a specialist cancer centre within Basingstoke.
This is an issue that has personal significance for her, having contracted breast cancer during 2014. Happily, the diagnosis came at an early stage and she went on to make a full recovery, following a period of treatment in Basingstoke Hospital, but the experience has motivated the mother-of-two to make her charity bid.
Speaking to a reporter from the Basingstoke Observer, she stated that:
“I have been thinking of doing a charity event to give something back, after receiving amazing care from my consultant and the breast care team. Obviously, this is a biggie for me, as my hair is quite long now.”
Liza will undergo her close shave at the Candover Clinic on January 14th and she has set a target to raise £2,500.
Charity campaigns like this often make use of places that provide leaflet printing, as this helps to spread the word and encourage donations.
