One team, which is made up of adults and called Ice Age, hit its personal best points score in winning the gold, while the elementary level team, Snowstorm, also took the first place prize.
Ice Age includes skaters like Alison Clark, Chris Fenlon, Lucas Walker, Ashleigh Lowen and Wendy and Hazil Baldwin, while the Snowstorm skaters included Abbie Bush, Leila Buick, Isabelle Davey, Sian Clark and Holly Denny.
Both of the teams are part of the Basingstoke Synchronised Ice Skating Club, trained by Fiona Harris with her assistant Nadia Sargeant, and the club will be able to advertise successes like this using poster printing in Basingstoke to help attract potential new members to join the club.
Speaking to a reporter from the Basingstoke Gazette, Fiona Harris stated:
“It was a really strong start from all the teams so we are hoping for a successful season.”
The third team from the town’s ice skating club, Ice Sensation, also experienced a good day, as it claimed a third prize – ensuring that all three Basingstoke teams ended up with podium places.
Ice Sensation skaters included Tiffany Carter, Hayley Callaway, Fiona Hammett, Rosie Hatton and Rae Crawford.
The overall aim for the club now is victory in the British Championships, which will be held in Nottingham this year.
