Classic fairytale Sleeping Beauty is the show that will be performed in the town this festive season, with a number of stars among those taking to the stage at Basingstoke’s Anvil Arts venue. Among them will be actress Sue Holderness, who is portraying Carabosse, the bad fairy; Ben Harlow, who plays the Prince; and Katrina Bryan, who takes on the role of Princess Briar Rose.
With the rehearsal period now having started, these and other members of the cast tried out their costumes for the very first time and Harlow told a reporter from the Basingstoke Gazette that a spirit of fun has already set in:
“There is something really wonderful about pantomimes, you can really gage the audience’s reactions and they are fun for anyone from eight-years-old to 80 years old.”
Bryan will be familiar to many of the local children who attend the pantomime from the CBeebies show Nina and the Neurons, in which she plays the title character, and she stated that she loves performing in Christmas pantos.
The show opens on the 8th of December and poster printing may well be used to help promote it to people living in the Basingstoke area.
