‘Escape Basingstoke or Die’ will see gamers utilising their skills - plus the tools provided - to avoid being defeated by a variety of monsters lurking in the town’s darkest recesses.
The design of this virtual Basingstoke does not accurately replicate the real town, but it does contain a sign directing players towards the nearby M3 and the game developers are aiming to add local landmarks, like Festival Place and Wote Street Willy, before it is launched next summer.
The director of Somerset games firm Puppygames, Caspian Prince, said:
“It’s going to be quite an achievement to get out – all the monsters wandering around Basingstoke are deadly. If you are killed, then you die and that’s the end of the game.”
Prince lived in the town’s Scarlatti Road six years ago, when he was working with Sony, and Puppygames will have the option of using poster printing in Basingstoke to promote the title to local gaming fans ahead of its release.
A trailer for the game has already been issued and shows the protagonist fleeing from creatures with huge teeth and bright green eyes. It is being created for PCs, but could also get a release for consoles.
