A stage adaptation of Jane Austen's classic novel 'Pride and Prejudice', presented by the Garrick players is due to receive a run in Altrincham at the end of September and the beginning of October.
It is the story of Miss Elisabeth Bennet, who is both intelligent and headstrong. And when it comes to marriage, she is single-minded in her determination to resist the ever-increasing demands placed upon her to conform to society's norms. This creates a series of complications that need to be resolved.
Amongst the endless balls, talk and the hypocrisy prevalent in the Regency period, Elizabeth meets the arrogant, distant, but eminently eligible bachelor Mr Darcy. They have much more in common than either would willingly admit, and their troublesome path from two people who can barely tolerate one another to falling in love is probably English literature’s greatest romance.
This stage adaptation is by Andrew Davies, who was also responsible for the BBC TV's 1995 adaptation, and is directed by Carole Carr. The novel emerges revitalised in this colourful production that contains considerable humour.
Tickets range in price from £13.00 to £18.50. Brochure printing can greatly assist in the promotion of a stage or theatrical event.
'Pride and Prejudice' is due to run from Monday 28th September to Sunday 4th October at the Garrick Theatre, Altrincham.
