Musical real-life story to be told in Altrincham

The musical 'Come From Away' a Garrick Theatre production is due to receive a run in Altrincham in mid-September.

This show tells the true tale of 7,000 aircraft passengers who come from all around the globe and are stranded in a small Canadian town in the aftermath of 9/11, The community in Newfoundland embraces these ‘come from aways’ opening its heart, with the local people willingly bringing them into their lives.

The characters include Captain Beverly Bass, the first female captain on American Airlines, Claude Elliot the fast acting town mayor, Hannah O'Rourke, a New York firefighter's mother and Janice Mosher, an enthusiastic news reporter all caught up in this tragic moment in history. With its powerful music, it engenders hope, locals and passengers eventually coming to forge strong friendships.

The show has garnered considerable recognition winning four Olivier Awards notably 'Best New Musical' as well as the Tony Award for 'Best Direction of a Musical on Broadway'. This amateur production is directed by Joseph Meighan and has a quality cast.
