What's Happening in Altrincham, England…

Quiz night comes to Altrincham

The successful London West End comedic/drama play 'Quiz', performed by the Garrick Ensemble, is due to have a run in Altrincham at the beginning of February.

Back in September 2001 the country was enthralled by a scandal that still remains something of a mystery. In an audacious scheme Charles Ingram, ('the Coughing Major') aided by his accomplices deceived the hit TV show, 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire', into paying out £1,000,000. But did they really do it and if so how?

This play re-examines the conviction of Charles Ingram, as well as being a humourous celebration of the traditional British quiz show. It also offers an in depth analysis of the 21st century's new ambivalent attitude towards honesty, whilst leaving the final decision up to the audience.

Written by James Graham and directed here by Joseph Meighan, it gained two Olivier Awards nominations, notably for 'Best New Comedy'. After transferring to the West End in 2018 with great reviews, on the back of selling out at Chichester Festival Theatre. Indeed, 2020 saw an ITV adaptation starring Michael Sheen.

Tickets range in price from £14.00 to £19.00. The impact that brochure printing can have shouldn't be underestimated when it comes to the promotion of a play or theatrical event.

'Quiz' will run between Monday 2 February and Saturday 7th February at The Garrick Playhouse, Altrincham.
