Health centre being constructed in Altrincham
Construction work on the new South Trafford Health and Wellbeing Centre is now underway, with this facility set to be located at the site that used to be home to Altrincham Hospital.
This project is in its early stages, with site establishment work currently being carried out. The next stage will see the hospital building undergo demolition – a task that McAuliffe Environmental Limited is set to undertake. That process should begin during September.
As part of the work, the principal building’s façade is being preserved and reconstructed. It is the one section of this building, which dates back to the 1870s, that is considered to possess significant cultural and architectural merit. Building work on the new health centre is likely to begin at the start of 2017.
The completed centre is set to offer local people a range of facilities, including training areas, clinical suites, a pharmacy, community therapies and services, a brand new Altrincham Tourist Information Centre and Library and GP health services.
Trafford Clinical Commissioning Group’s chief operating officer, Gina Lawrence, told Altrincham Today that:
