Unusual race coming to Oakville

Banks and other companies in Oakville will soon be joining together in an activity to raise money and have a good time doing it.

The Birmingham Bank Bed Challenge will start in April with the seven major banks in the community doing some fundraising for the challenge. The public is invited to make a donation to the cause either online or at any one of the their local banking branches.

One race day, the companies and financial institutions will take to Lakeshore in beds they have decorated and sponsored. Business owners who really want to make their contributions count are invited to match any of the donations made by the public. Along with the hospital bed race, there will be a stroller race and other activities so that there will be fun for the whole family. Flyer printing can be used to spread the word to the community about events such as this.

Monies raised during the event will be used to help support he Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital and also the new Oakville Hospital. It will go towards the purchase of new equipment and supporting the different activities that go on there. With an average hospital bed costing between $12,000 and $50,000, the help from the community goes a long way towards meeting the needs of the patients.

Anyone who would like to make a donation online or take part themselves is invited to visit the Birmingham Bank Bed Challenges website.
