Oakville bonspiel to benefit childrens charity

The Kurl 4 Kids event will be returning to Oakville this April, looking to raise money for a good cause with a weekend-long curling showdown.

The event sees amateur curlers paired with professionals and other high-level players as skips at an opening night gala, which includes a cocktail party and banquet. The new quartets will then face off on the ice over two days, with each team guaranteed at least four games culminating in a knockout tournament to crown a champion. The final day of games will use abbreviated curling rules with four or six end games.

The weekend will also provide plenty of opportunity for social bonding and interaction with the skips. Scheduled events include a “toonie toss”, karaoke singing, and a dinner following the finals. The finale will include presentations and live music from the band Part Time Gods. The event grounds will also feature a hospitality suite and shuttle service to and from a nearby hotel.

Proceeds from the Kurl 4 Kids tournament will go towards the Oakville Hospital Foundation and Sandra Schmirler Foundation, with the goal of funding pediatric care and research in the region. Charity events like this draw on local sponsors and volunteers for support, often featuring them on banner printing and programs.

The 2026 edition of Kurl 4 Kids will take place at the Oakville Curling Club from April 2 to 4.
