The three-day bonspiel accepts clubs from across Canada, the United States, and overseas. Its first three editions have welcomed teams from Scotland, Sweden, Norway and Switzerland. For this year, organizers say:
“The objective of The Gathering IV is to obtain a geographically diverse field of teams, allowing Curlers to interact and experience fellowship with Curlers from abroad.”
The playing field will include four teams from the Oakville Curling Club as well as those accepted through online applications, with an eye towards geographic diversity. 32 teams will be selected, with any combination of males/females. Curlers and their supporters will also be invited to meals including buffet-style dinners each night, followed by live entertainment including Ceilidh dancing on Friday night.
The Gathering tournament will kick off the 2026-27 winter curling season at the OCC, which will include leagues and tournaments at all levels of competition. Bonspiels like this often connect with local businesses like Print shops for promotion as well as to create trophies and commemorative items. Other major tournaments in Oakville include The Sportsman, Lefthanders, and the Sore Muscle Bonspiel for charity.
The Gathering IV will take place at the Oakville Curling Club rinks from October 1 to 4, 2026.
