Oakville art show to go square
The Square Treats Art Show will be returning to Oakville this December, offering small works of art with an eye to the holiday audience.
The event will feature over 100 original works of art on canvases 12 by 12 inches (30 by 30 centimetres) or smaller. Over 25 artists will contribute these “treats”, including Julie Forrester Clark, Maria Isabel Fleury and Marg Duggan Jones. Artists are selected from the local community, with all work available to take home.
The show will be preceded by a preview event where ticket buyers will have the first opportunity to look at and purchase work. The work will then be on sale to the public for three days. Art shows and sales like this often use brochure printing and the artists themselves to help explain the works on offer. Organizers describe the goal of the event as to make art buying accessible to a wide variety of people:
“Oakville is now part of a growing movement across Canadian art communities, proudly hosting its own 'smalls' show. Whether you’re starting your love affair with art or if you’re a seasoned buyer, Square Treats are a way to indulge yourself or treat someone special.”
