Oakville farm to feature printmaking
The Joshua Farm Gallery in Oakville will be hosting a printmaking workshop this November, aiming to help artists capture nature in the modern medium.
The workshop, dubbed “Nature’s Abstraction: Exploring the Wild Within”, will be led by acclaimed artist and educator Janice Kovar, whose work has been showcased at galleries and fairs throughout southern Ontario. The lesson will explore printmaking techniques that aim to translate print material into the patterns and texture of nature. These methods include natural dyes from plants that can be used to add unique colour to a print work.
Attendees will also learn how to used mixed media including collage and acrylic paint to create layers on canvas and paper. The seminar’s promotional materials state that it will also include more abstract inspiration to:
Materials including canvas, paints and inks will be provided for registrants. Artists often use materials from print shops and art supply stores to create unique works with modern print technology. The event is aimed at both adults and youth and is one of a number of educational workshops and courses provided by the gallery in a rustic setting.
