The event features local artists and artisans displaying and selling their work. The show typically includes more than 175 booths and attracts thousands of spectators, with represented media including traditional oil paintings, sculptures, ceramics, photography, graphic design, and more. Confirmed exhibitors include painter Peter Schacht, multimedia artist Olivia Mae Sinclair, and sculptor Elena Fumagalli. The event describes itself as having:
“Blossomed into Oakville’s premiere art event with artists and artisans from across the country. [...] Art in the Park has a reputation for being the best run art show in Ontario.”
Artists are selected from throughout the community for their originality and artistic merit. Organizers also partner with Higgins Event Rentals to provide tents and tables at a reduced rate to exhibitors. The event has been hosted by the Oakville Arts Society since 1965, with admission fees going towards the Society’s work year-round. Art in the Park also includes a food and beer garden, in addition to cafes and restaurants in the nearby area. Events such as this often use tools such as brochure printing and social media to raise awareness and attract attendees.
The 2024 edition of Art in the Park Oakville will take place throughout the day on August 5 at Waterfront Heritage Park in Bronte.
