This fall will see the debut of Fluf Souffle Cheesecake in Oakville, the first restaurant in the Halton region offering Japanese-style light cheesecakes.
Fluf is the brainchild of Oakville baker Harry Chauhan and his partner Hartej Tapia, who noticed that the fluffy treat was growing in popularity in the Greater Toronto Area. Their signature cake preserves the jiggly texture of Japanese cheesecake, but also adds more of a souffle element to the dish, with a light and fluffy feeling unlike the dense New York-style cheesecake that Canadian diners may be more familiar with. The cakes will be available in different flavours, including chocolate, along with seasonal flavours like mango for the summer and pumpkin spice in the fall.
In addition to the cakes, Fluf will offer a variety of beverages, including matcha lattes, fruit-flavoured sparkling lemonades and teas, and java from Balzac Coffee. The store will be takeout only. The store’s branding and Logo Design use the symbol of a cloud to emphasize the lightness and fluffiness of the crustless cakes, with the restaurant named after the German word for “cloud”, and use pastel colours to suggest a welcoming location.
Fluf Souffle Cheesecake began a test opening this September with a full grand opening expected soon. The store is located on Lakeshore Road East in Downtown Oakville and will be open seven days a week.
