Oakville set to honour its heroes

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2014 Mississauga Halton Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) Heroes in the Home Awards.

Established back in 2010, the awards are designed to show appreciation for those people who act as caregivers in the Oakville, Halton Hills, Milton, Mississauga, and South Etobicoke communities. Since their inception, nearly 400 people have been recognized.

A hero in the home could be almost anyone who works professionally or volunteers their time to care for an ill, elderly, or disabled person. Past recipients have included nurses, therapists, and dedicated family members and friends.

Caroline Brereton, CEO of the Mississauga Halton CCAC, stressed the importance of the awards, stating about those honoured;

“They make a tremendous difference in the lives of those impacted by age, illness, or disability and it is important to recognize them and show appreciation for what they do.

“The Heroes in the Home Awards is just one way we can say thank you.”

In order to promote the awards and promote the recipients, the Mississauga Halton CCAC may have hired a printing company for the purposes of poster printing.

Awards ceremonies will take place this fall throughout the Mississauga and Halton Regions. In Oakville, the ceremony will take place at the Oakville Conference Centre on October 23rd.
