Oakville Ribfest to offer drive-through version

One of Oakville’s largest annual events will be returning this year in a new form, with Oakville Ribfest offering to-go ribs from local restaurants.

Ribfest will provide pork ribs at a central location, with attendees able to pick up ribs of their choice and eat them in the comfort of their homes. The event is hosted by the Oakville Trafalgar Rotary Club and typically brings in hundreds of people to enjoy live music, family entertainment and plenty of ribs.

For many in Oakville, Ribfest marks the unofficial start of summer. The event prides itself on being “green”, with all possible materials being recycled.

All proceeds from Ribfest go towards local charities. Past groups that have received help from the Rotary Club have included Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hamilton Halton, Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation and the Learning Disabilities Association of Halton. Last year’s event took the form of an online 50/50 draw that raised over $4,500 for coronavirus relief. Charitable events like these, often promoted through methods like poster printing and social media, can help to bring a community together in difficult times.

The drive-through version of Oakville Ribfest is scheduled to take place at Sheridan College between June 18 and 20, with Menus and more details to be announced in the weeks leading up to the event.
