Oakville honors those who have made a change

The 13th annual Community Spirit Awards gala is taking place in Oakville this June. It is a presentation of the Town of Oakville's Recreation and Culture Department.

The gala honors those in the Oakville area who have shown leadership and who have made a difference to the quality of life in their community. Nominations were accepted from the public until the middle of April. This year's award was designed by art instructor and illustrator Soyeon Kim. There are eight categories of awards to be handed out during the evening. One, the Access award, is given to those who voluntarily work with the disabled. Other’s cover categories such as Environmental, Heritage and History, and Group Volunteer. There is also the Senior Award, which goes to a volunteer over the age of 65.

This annual awards gala is widely advertised in Oakville in local newspapers and through Print advertising. Printing companies in the area are often asked to help with marketing materials such as these, and can provide them for a reasonable price.

The Community Spirit Awards gala will be held at the Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre on June 11th from 6:30pm - 8:30pm. Tickets are $15 each or free for nominees.
