Oakville group brings comedy to fundraising event

This year will see the return of the in-person Live on Kerr Event, helping to raise money for the Kerr Street Mission non-profit organization – and this time, the group is looking to harness the power of live comedy.

Live on Kerr will be a gala-type event with speeches and presentations aiming to show off the work Kerr Street Mission has done in the Oakville community. The show will also feature an excerpt from the Middle Raged comedy show, performed by Canadian comedians Geri Hall and Gary Pearson. Middle Raged, which has toured around the country, offers a humorous take on getting older. This year will mark the return of Live on Kerr to a live audience after previous editions were held online for public health reasons.

The event is designed to celebrate donors to the Kerr Street Mission, and is one of the nonprofit’s two largest annual fundraising events, in addition to a golf tournament. The organization provides after-school programming for children and youth, providing meals to those in need, running educational seminars, and connecting families to services and resources in the community. Fundraising events such as these, often more formal affairs, use tools like poster printing and social media to help encourage participation.

The 2023 edition of Live on Kerr will take place at the Liebherr Auditorium in Oakville Centre on the evening of May 10.
