Oakville’s Kerr Village neighbourhood will host its annual Christmas tree lighting this year, an event that has grown to become a broader street festival.
The Christmas tree lighting event is now in its 27th year and will include a two-day holiday market. The market will boast 14 local shops and artisans looking to provide holiday gifts and treats. Vendors involved include Get It While It’s Hot, Moose River Preserves, River Birch Macrame and Wood By Julia.
Holiday markets and events like this can be a major opportunity for small businesses, which sometimes use Business Cards to make longer-term connections with customers. Fresh food and drink will be provided by businesses like Boffo’s, Moosehead Breweries and The Mermaid.
There will be live music throughout the event. Headlining the festival is acclaimed country group the Jim Cuddy Band. Other performers include Angy G & Friends, Jack and Cosima Grunsky, Abbamania and Nightfever. There will also be a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus on Saturday afternoon.
The tree was planted by the Kerr Street Business Improvement Association two years ago, and it will be lit up in an extravagant ceremony. Entry to the event is free, but attendees are asked to buy advance tickets to help with crowd control.
The 2021 edition of the Kerr Village Holiday Fest will take place in Westwood Park on December 3 and 4.
