Oakville fest to celebrate Latin culture

The Oakville Latino Festival will be back in the town this August, providing a sample of the tastes, sounds, and sights of southern Ontario’s Latin Canadian community.

The festival is noted for offering a wide variety of food and drink in its “food pavilion” with origins ranging from Mexico to Peru and beyond, with both food trucks and stalls dotting the festival grounds. There will also be a number of vendors and exhibitors offering food and other products to take home, such as Colombian-Canadian coffee company Cafe del Cielo. The festival will also feature a section of artisan vendors and a performance stage featuring music and other live performances from a variety of Latin cultures.

Younger attendees may enjoy the Kids’ Zone or the many colourful sights and sounds. Cultural festivals such as these are popular summer events in Oakville and surrounding areas, showcasing the diversity of cultures in the Greater Toronto Area, and often promote themselves with methods such as flyer printing and local media advertising.

The Latino Festival’s mission statement centres on contributing to Canadian multiculturalism, saying that it will:

“Seek to create a unique experience for the whole family from the gastronomic point of view, through dance, music and art exhibitions that allow us to explore all the richness of Latin American culture explained to any Canadian public as a sample of multiculturalism.”

The 2023 Oakville Latino Festival will take place from August 11 to 13 at Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park.
