Oakville event to promote local art galleries

Oakville will be home to the Downtown Oakville Art Hop this December, aiming to highlight the city’s galleries and artistic culture.

Four galleries will be offering free admission for the night, with attendees encouraged to move between all four. Summer & Grace Gallery will be organizing the event, and will also be running a draw for a free $500 gift card. Also participating will be Oakville Galleries, Artspace, and Towne Square Gallery, which is also home to the Native Art Gallery. Galleries will be offering complimentary beverages and snacks, as well as an opportunity to meet with artists directly. Events like this provide an opportunity for artists to directly interact with their audiences, often offering Promotional Products or other items with contact information. Part of the event’s stated goals are to celebrate creativity and the local artistic community.

Visitors will be able to take in current exhibitions at each of the galleries. Oakville Galleries will be displaying Charles Stankievech’s exhibit The Desert Turned to Glass, including a mixture of video art, photographs, and sculpture. Artspace, which is typically open by appointment only, recently unveiled a new collection by Denis Bouchard. The Native Art Gallery currently features the Cape Dorset Collection, the 65th annual edition of the Print collection by Kinngait Studios. Galleries will also have art and gift items available for purchase.

The Downtown Oakville Art Hop will take place on the afternoon of December 6.
