Oakville event to present Art in My Garden
An upcoming Oakville festival will allow residents to experience art in a new way as the Art in My Garden event returns.
Art In My Garden will take place across the neighbourhood of Old Oakville with 35 different garden locations. There will be 70 artists providing work, with some artists available to meet and talk with during the event, including acrylic artist Kimberly Bell Schols and watercolour painter Ronnie Mills. This will be a non-commercial event with no art sales or admission fees, and 30 spots are reserved for returning artists from past years’ shows.
This year’s Art in My Garden will include the addition of a community-built installation. The “Hanging in Harmony” exhibition will include small panels from people from all ages and artistic experiences, hung together on clotheslines. Panels measure 10x10 inches and can be decorated with paint, markers, crayons, sewing, or collage.
The annual event is run by volunteers, with the support of the Oakville Arts Council and other organizations, with the goal of highlighting creativity in the Oakville community. Art events like this often draw on local print shops and other businesses for supplies and promotional material.
