Oakville Childrens Festival to return

The long-running Oakville Children’s Festival will once again look to bring the best of kid’s entertainment to the greater Toronto area this August.

The festival will be headlined by Splash’N Boots, a Juno-nominated musical duo best known as hosts on Treehouse TV. Veteran children’s singer-songwriter Norman Foote will also be a highlight for many.

In addition to music, the festival will feature diverse acts such as balloon artistry, ventriloquism, and hoola hoop dancing. Interactive activities will include a scavenger hunt, art workshops, a “sports zone”, and the ever-popular face-painting. For those looking to cool off, an indoor pool will also be available with free swimming.

Particular attention will be paid to highlighting Indigenous culture through performances such as Ascension Harjo, who is the junior world champion in Indigenous hoop dancing. The event will receive considerable institutional support from the city of Oakville, including events sponsored by the Oakville Public Library and an appearance from Mayor Rob Burton. Festivals like these are often dependent on local support, ranging from the food provided by local restaurants to poster printing and brochure printing from nearby Print shops.

Oakville Children’s Festival will take place on Saturday, August 17 at Queen Elizabeth Park Community & Cultural Centre. There will be road closures in the surrounding area, and visitors are encouraged to bike or use public transport.
