The walk challenges individuals to raise money as an individual or part of a team and walk a set distance along an outdoor trail. Donors of at least $100 will receive a commemorative Kidney Walk t-shirt. This walk is part of a series of events across Canada, with over two dozen walks in Ontario alone. Each city or region’s total donations are ranked on a leaderboard to encourage friendly competition. The Oakville walk aims to raise $30 million. Money raised goes towards the Kidney Foundation, a registered charity helping to raise awareness of kidney disease, as well as providing programs or services to the millions of Canadians affected by the disease.
