As the season turns to fall, the town of Oakville is continuing to encourage its citizens to stay active by holding its previously-delayed Bike Month across September.
The month will see a variety of programming encouraged to take advantage of the numerous paths and outdoor attractions in the Oakville, area, including 1,930 kilometres of cycling paths and 200 km of trails. This will include a series of free online seminars aimed at all aspects of cycling, from getting started to bike maintenance, with material aimed at all ages. The month will also be celebrated throughout the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area, opening up many events in surrounding areas.
Bike Month is typically held in June of each year, but this year has seen it delayed. The new timing could help encourage cyclists to stay active even as summer warmth fades. In addition to the seminars, there will be dedicated rides and races held across the GTHA, consisting of both special events and regular occurrences like the Halton Outdoor Club’s Friday Night Ride across over 20 km of North Oakville trails. Events like this often use tools like banner printing to help advertise, as well as promote riders.
Bike Month will take place across September. Online seminars will be held on the Bike Month website, with the last being Basic Bike Maintenance on September 29.
