The city of Oakville has announced its early plans for this year’s Canada Day celebration, featuring live music and a festival atmosphere.
The celebration will be hosted in Bronte this year under the name Canada Day in Oakville. There will be food trucks by local vendors and family-friendly activities. There will also be free live performances, featuring local artists. The city is also looking to include entertainment from local community groups in the form of demonstrations and cultural performances to help showcase Oakville’s cultural diversity. Once dusk falls, there will be fireworks, weather permitting, to celebrate the 156th anniversary of Canada’s confederation. More details are set to be announced in the lead-up to the date.
Holiday celebrations provide a prime opportunity for local vendors and musical acts to gain greater exposure to a wide audience, often distributing Business Cards and merchandise. The Bronte branch of the Royal Canadian Legion will also be hosting its own celebration beginning earlier in the day in the same neighbourhood, also featuring food trucks, activities, and live music. Announced acts include Fiddlestix, Stone the Radio, and Elvis tribute artist Mel Priest. DJ Rick will serve as host for the Legion’s celebrations, which start at noon and run into the night.
Oakville’s official Canada Day celebrations will take place at Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park on the evening of July 1.
