Legendary news anchor to visit Oakville

Iconic Canadian TV presence Peter Mansbridge will be in Oakville this December in an interactive speaking engagement.

The event, called “In Conversation with... Peter Mansbridge”, is designed to promote Mansbridge’s newest book, How Canada Works. The book and Mansbridge’s talk will draw on his decades of experience in journalism – including serving as the lead anchor of CBC’s nightly news program The National for almost 30 years – to discuss Canadian identity and modern political issues.

Mansbridge is also known for his ability to narrate Canadian stories, with his Books Off the Record and Extraordinary Canadians becoming national bestsellers. Oakville is one of ten stops on Mansbridge’s promotional tour across Canada.

“In conversation” events typically feature a discussion between the speaker and a moderator, with audience members frequently invited to ask questions afterwards or have a book signed by the author. The Mansbridge talk is being presented in association with the Oakville Public Library and A Different Drummer Books. Attendees can also buy a copy of the book as part of their ticket price. Public interviews and book promotion events often use methods like poster printing around universities and downtown areas to help attract a passionate audience.

“In Conversation with... Peter Mansbridge” will take place at the AEG Liebherr Auditorium in the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts on the evening of December 2.
