Health issues in Oakville may come to print

Mental health is an often forgotten area of public health spending, and a new printed media campaign could soon emerge following a debate between the Liberals and the Progressive Conservative Party on how to address mental health issues.

Comments at a recent meeting in North Oakville suggested that bi-partisan MPPs had to do more to set aside political differences and work towards the health goal.

Findings from a 2010 committee revealed that no 'coherent mental health care system' existed and called the existing care 'scattered at best’, revealing the current status of care in the province.

A debate quickly ensued on how to best use spending within the Halton and Oakville regions to help address mental health needs. Of particular concern to Kevin Flynn, the Oakville MPP, are the findings of the committee, which he helped chair.

Local printing companies may be invited to help disseminate information to local residents about many of the health care issues, such as Kevin Flynn's assertion that $200 million to children's health issues. The Halton region has also seen the hiring of more than 200 mental health workers for young people.

The debate and concern over mental health issues in the province of Ontario and community in Halton could create important advertising opportunities for local printing companies. Flyer printing and banner printing could be used to raise awareness of the issues in the area. The Health, Youth and Education departments are all working together to deal with the local issues.
