Once a special once-a-year treat, the unique Far East Taco will now be available year-round in Oakville, Ontario after opening a restaurant.
The restaurant combines Korean and Mexican cuisines, serving products such as kimchi fries and kalbi rice bowls. Visitors can top their tacos, prepared in Korean barbecue style, with a mixture of traditional ingredients and Asian favourites like cabbage and mushrooms. Mandu beef dumplings with dipping sauce are also available for a late-night snack.
Previously, Far East Taco was a regular stall at the annual Canadian National Exhibition, Toronto’s well-known carnival and agricultural fair. Its fusion cuisine earned a cult following in the area. Starting a brick-and-mortar restaurant is always a difficult proposition, but having a tested formula, a unique product and strong word-of-mouth is a step in the right direction. New outlets also typically use flyer printing and Promotional Products to get the word out.
Far East Taco opened its new home on Dundas Street West on May 6. Like many Toronto-area restaurants, it offers halal options. The restaurant is part of a new trend of fusion cuisine which seeks to bring together tastes, flavours, and ingredients from disparate parts of the world to make new, creative dishes.
Fusion cuisine started as a high-end product, but is now influencing more casual and popular dining. Time will tell if Far East Taco becomes a new Oakville staple, but it has all the ingredients for a local favourite.Get a Free Quote for Promotional Products
