This April, the 25th Annual Oakville Awards for Business Excellence (OABE) will be held, honouring the best of the town’s businesses.
The OABEs will present awards in various categories, such as ‘Small Business of the Year’, ‘Service Industry of the Year’ and the ‘Community Builder Award’. Most nominees are selected by members of the Oakville Chamber of Commerce. Businesses will be evaluated based on reputation, innovation, ethical practices and other criteria.
For special awards like the ‘Conservation Leadership Award’, the ‘Charity or Not-for-Profit Excellence Award’, and the ‘Business Icon Award’, the OABE committee will select a recipient based on contributions to the community. Past winners have included iCare Home Health, La Parisienne Creperie, and Entripy Custom Clothing. Each award is sponsored by a major brand like RBC, Bell and Morris Mercanti.
The awards will be given out in a formal-dress ceremony and awards dinner. Events like this are often a prime opportunity for networking, with many businesses engaging in a round of business card printing or ordering new Corporate Gifts to cement potential ties. Every year proceeds go to the Rotary Club of Oakville West, which helps fund programs like Camp Enterprise, Dreams Take Flight and the Notting Hill Youth Centre.
The 2020 Oakville Awards for Business Excellence gala will take place on the evening of April 20 at the Oakville Conference Centre.
