Annual festival brings excitement to downtown Oakville

The 23rd annual Downtown Oakville Jazz Festival is taking place next month for two days.

There will be six stages set up along Lakeshore Road East from Navy to Allan Streets. A kick-off concert starring Emile-Claire Barlow will be held at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts, which is a ticketed event. Ms. Barlow is a Juno-award winning jazz singer.

The festival attracts musical artists in a number of genres each year. Some of this year's performers are Quinn Sullivan, The Boxcar Boys, The Ault Sisters, and Too Nice. Mitch Frohman and the Merriam Music Orchestra, made up of student musicians, will play the songbook of Tito Puente. In addition, the Bell Youth in the Spotlight will introduce some up and coming young musical artists. Do It Green will be returning this year also, providing information and awareness about environmental topics.

For those coming from out of town, transportation will be made simpler by a free shuttle from the Oakville Go Station.

The event brings people into the city from all over the GTA to enjoy the music. To advertise, local Print companies might provide flyer and poster printing services.

The festival is being held from August 7 to 8 on Lakeshore Road East. To find out more about this year's performers and other related events, call 905-844-4520.
