Acclaimed Oakville musician to perform virtual show

The award-winning guitarist and composer Johannes Linstead will be performing a live-streamed concert in his hometown of Oakville this May.

The stream will be one of a series of events being streamed live from the stage Oakville Centre. Linstead will perform his blend of flamenco, jazz, and Mediterranean guitar stylings and will be accompanied by a backing band containing accordion, bass guitar and percussion. His music is influenced by his travels across the world, from India to Brazil, but Linstead has been making the best of a year spent locally by performing multiple such livestreams. Linstead was nominated for a Juno Award for Instrumental Album of the Year in 2007 and won Best World Album in the Toronto Independent Music Awards.

The concert will contain songs from Billboard-charting albums Azul and Midnight Rhumba, along with songs from Linstead’s upcoming disc Bohemian Strings. The new release will be Linstead’s eleventh as a lead artist, in addition to several appearances as a featured artist. Like similar concerts hosted by Oakville Centre, it will use a virtual “ticket” that provides access to the live stream. These concerts, frequently advertised through means like flyer printing and social media, have provided musicians with a way to continue to reach their audience while being unable to tour.

Johannes Linstead will perform from the Oakville Centre for a live-stream audience on the evening of May 29.
