Milton venue The Eighth Note will be holding a special Youth Battle of the Bands event this January, aiming to highlight emerging musicians.
The competition will be open to duos and groups made up of under-18 musicians from throughout the Milton community. Bands will each have a chance to perform songs of their choice within a time slot. The band judged the best will be crowned the winner at the end of the night. This year’s competition will also feature a “twist” to be revealed later on.
Interested groups must submit a biography and photo. “Battle of the band” competitions like this are a popular form of exposure for emerging artists and often use flyer printing and social media to help attract listeners. Audience members can book a table and listen to friends and family or take in the whole day-long show.
This year’s Youth Battle of the Bands will aim to be the biggest competition yet, with additional prizes. New criteria and categories will aim to force bands to step outside of their comfort zone. Time slots will be strictly enforced so that each band gets an equal amount of time.
The 2026 Youth Battle of the Bands will take place at the Eighth Note Local Eatery and Live Music Bar on January 24, with registration required by January 3.
