Starting earlier this week, some Milton drivers needed to take a little bit of extra time as they drove through the area.
This is because the section of Mill Street between Garden Lane and Martin Street will be closed for the next three months.
Local access to the roads will be maintained throughout the construction, but drivers are asked to follow the well-marked detour and to allow themselves some extra time should they need to access Rotary Park.
A map of the detour along Main Street can be found on the Halton Region website in the regional construction projects section.
The closure is expected to end when the improvements are completed this November.
The reason for this closure is that Halton Region will be working on some upgrades to the street’s waste water main. This is part of ‘Building a Better Halton’, which is the overall plan to upgrade such area infrastructure as water mains, sewage mains, roads, and waste management systems.
More information about these can be obtained by visiting the region’s website, or by calling 311.
While a detour such as this can be inconvenient to some, brochure printers can create informational materials that explain the project to residents. These can explain the project and why it needs to take place. Once they understand this, it can make it much easier to have patience until the construction is completed.
