Print companies that specialize in poster printing in Milton, Ontario, will be interested to note that exports in the Canadian printing industry were higher in back to back months. According to StatsCan, the printing exports for the months of August and September of 2010 were up once more.
In what may be optimistic economic news for at least a part of the export industry of Canada, the higher printing exports in August and September of 2010 represent a part of the bigger picture. Already this year, printing exports in four months of 2010 have run ahead of the export numbers for the same period of time as last year. As a bonus, the printing imports in August and September of 2010 are running ahead of last year’s numbers.
In the months of August and September of 2010, the printing exports were $81.5 million and $88.4 million, respectively. This compares to the same period last year of August and September 2009, when printing exports were only $79.3 million and $85.3 million, respectively.
As far as printing imports, in August and September of 2010, they stood at $124.2 million and $128.5 million, respectively. That compared to the same months in 2009, when they stood at only $103.4 million and $119 million, respectively.
Year to date, in a reversal of monthly snapshots, the picture is totally different. Printing exports and imports in Canada are both down compared to the same period last year. For 2010, exports stand only at $719.1 million versus $740.8 million in 2009. On the imports side, for 2010, the amount was $953.1 million versus $994.4 million in 2009.
