Oblivion car show to get even more retro

The Oblivion car and culture show, highlighting street looks from yesteryear, will be venturing further into the past for its 2024 instalment with Milton’s Country Heritage Park.

The event was created in 2018 as an effort to showcase retro cars from the 1980s and 90s, as well as music, art, and other culture from the area. Oblivion has been held in a different venue and with a different theme each year, with past editions held at Ontario Place, a vintage “summer camp”, and a wedding venue in Oakville with a marital theme. This year’s show will be held at Country Heritage Park, the former Pioneer Village, with the goal of creating nostalgia for class field trips to the same location. Most of the classic park buildings and exhibits are still present and functional.

In addition to classic show cars, the festival will feature food trucks, licensed drink vendors, indoor displays, and games. There will be awards presented for the best cars and vans in different categories, as well as for the best retro outfit. The show will also be raising money for the County Heritage Agricultural Society, dedicated to preserving Heritage Park and providing education about the area’s history. Retro events like this often use old-school graphic design, music, and references to help create the feeling of being transported to the past.

The 2024 Oblivion Car & Culture Show will take place on August 11 at Country Heritage Park in Milton.
