The incumbent seat will be absent in March 2012’s municipal elections in Milton, since council-woman Deanna Duby made an early announcement that she will not be seeking re-election in the next campaign. Duby sees it as a potentially exciting race, encouraging people to run for office since there is no incumbent to deal with, and introducing a new face to council with a fresh perspective and energy.
Seat of council-woman Mary Hudson will also be available in the March Milton election, although Hudson is unsure about whether or not she will re-campaign for her seat.
Elections present wonderful opportunities for Print companies to come involved in local political campaigns. Come election time, printers are involved in flyer printing and sometimes business card printing and distribution, especially if the candidate is a prominent figure in the community. Milton’s next election should pique much interest and heavy campaigning, since candidates will be new and voters will be interested in learning about their platforms and political vision.
As Duby reflects on her past and current term, she considers her major accomplishments to be very visible ones in the community that make local residents appreciative. In particular Duby highlights her role as chair of the Parks and Recreation department and the renovation of Memorial Park with grant money.
The council-woman plans to spend more time involved in community theatre and will leave political decisions to her future replacement. Despite her withdrawal from municipal politics, Dube will still remain in the public eye.
