After a year of construction, the new Sherwood District Park will open to the public this August with an official ceremony.
The day will be filled plenty of free activities for the entire family and demonstrations of the various amenities available in the park.
The park will feature such areas as a cricket or soccer pitch, two basketball courts, a softball diamond with lighting for night games, a new playground and easily accessible parking. Part of the plans for the new park were also to create a recreational trail system. Some proposals, however, were not implemented due to facilities being built in other areas of the city; this included a splash pad, a dog park, and tennis courts. The designs for the park also included extensive planting of trees and shrubs to provide buffers between sections and the nearby escarpment.
In a bid to drum up attendance levels and increase public awareness of the new facilities, organizers may invest in flyer printing services for materials to distribute in the areas of Milton with the highest foot traffic, or Brochures to deliver to each home in the region.
