Miltons generosity fills kettles with donations for those in need

Milton residents once again showed their generous spirit this past holiday season.

The Salvation Army recently reported that their annual kettle campaign was able to collect more than $183,000

, which far surpassed the goal originally set of $175,000. It was further expected that once the usual end of the year contributions were added to that, the grand total would come in at around $200,000. This exceeds the record-setting amount that was contributed back in 2010.

Along with the generous financial contributions to the kettles, a December food drive held in Milton was able to collect 26,650 pounds of food, including 280 turkeys. This was distributed to families in need throughout the local community.

According to the Salvation Army, the funds and food were used to help 325 area families. They each received food to last a month, a full course turkey dinner with everything from cranberries to dressing, and also toys for the children.

Steve Wiseman, who worked on the campaign, noted that 500 people had volunteered to lend a hand with the effort. He further remarked that was both really pleased and inspired by the city’s kindness towards their neighbors who may be facing a tough time.

Fund-raising efforts such as this bring communities together and give much valued support. Flyer printing is just one promotional material that can be used to raise awareness of such efforts.
