It’s time once again for Doors Open Halton, and as usual, Milton will be taking part.
There will be 46 different places throughout the area that will be
open to the public, giving them an opportunity get an insider’s view of them that they might not otherwise get to see. These include Mattamy National Cycling Centre, Halton Hills Generating Station, Lyon’s Log Cabin and Gingerbread House Gardens. A printing company will be able to produce maps of where to find the facilities taking part, and also Brochures that they can hand out to the public who stop by for a visit.
According to Bill Nesbit, who is a member of a regional committee that worked to organize the event, it will let people see how history is being made all around them, and allowing the public to see it for themselves, they will develop a deeper appreciation of their local heritage.
One of the main attractions in the Milton area is the new velodrome. It has a world class 250m cycling track, and is home base for the Canadian cycling team. It is one of only a very few such facilities that can be found in North America. Along with this, it has a fitness centre, a 300 meter-long track for jogging, running or walking and basketball, volleyball and badminton courts.
