The government of Ontario has announced plans to build three new schools in Milton to address the town’s growing population of families.
The new establishments will consist of two elementary schools and a secondary school, with a total of $77.7 million being spent between them. The announcements are part of a provincial initiative to build 30 new schools across the province and make additions to another 15 facilities, with the goal of creating 25,000 spaces for students. The two elementary schools will also carry with them 88 licensed child care spaces each.
The newly-announced schools will join announced investments like the new Milton SW1 high school, a recently-opened French immersion school, and the expansion of Bishop Reding and St. Peter’s elementary schools. New and refurbished schools often use means like brochure printing to notify parents about changes and opportunities available. At the press conference announcing the investment, Milton MPP Parm Gill expressed approval for the plan:
"I am proud to keep fighting for the families and students of Milton. As a father of three, investments into our children's education is a top priority for me. We are not only building new schools, we are building new opportunities for our children."
The new schools will be constructed in the years to come, with exact locations and names to be announced along the way.
