The Run for Milton will take place this September, challenging locals to run a 5-kilometre distance in order to raise funds for local hospitals.
The run will be an in-person test of endurance, with participants encouraged to collected donation pledges from family and friends. Supporters can then run, walk or jog the full length as they see fit. Less athletic or younger participants can instead choose to take a 1-kilometre fun walk in support of the cause. Past editions of the event have included hundreds of participants and included support from volunteers and local sponsors, ranging from local restaurants to major national chains. Last year’s edition also included a “Race, Raise, Reward” fund where participants under 16 years old could receive gift cards for hitting fundraising goals.
The morning will begin with an opening ceremony focused on the charitable cause. Money raised will go towards the Milton District Hospital, which provides health care in Milton and surrounding areas. The run aims to raise $50, 000 for the cause. Charitable walks and runs like this often use methods such as brochure printing and social media to help provide more information about the event and the cause it’s supporting.
The 2024 Run for Milton will take place on the morning of September 21 at the Mattamy National Cycling Centre.
